Examining why the Michelle Mone story is being pursued and it’s ‘cut-through’ value

The story of Michelle Mone is remarkable, but one of the aspects [of the story] which stands out is that people only seem to be cottoning on to the egregiousness of what she did now - in December 2022.

Anecdotally, comments on social media ask a very good question: ‘why is this only just coming to the fore and why does it have such cut-through value at this present time?’

It’s a good question because anybody attuned to political developments over the last 3 years would know that many politicians, or organisations affiliated with the Conservatives, treated coronavirus like a racket virtually from the start.

Some of us even wrote about it.

Those who noticed first time around are what (I suppose) might be called ‘cronyist hipsters’ - we knew about the scale of ultra-corruption before anybody; and for those who didn’t, in the spirit of Christmas, “welcome to the party, Pal.”
