Something that baffles me about these last few weeks in politics is that you’d be forgiven for thinking the Local Elections didn’t happen - and that over 1,000 Tory councillors didn’t lose their jobs.

But they did, didn’t they?

True, 2 [or 3 weeks] is a long time in politics and we’ve moved on since then somewhat - we were invaded by US Republicans for a start; many didn’t notice - but for most people, the same issues that caused them to not vote Conservative at the beginning of May still exist, and the polls still remain firmly against the Conservatives, too.

Rishi Sunak remains buoyant, however. Stoic. Resolute. Positive.

And it’s quite bizarre.
