Last week it was a year since the Owen Paterson scandal set in motion a chain of events from which the Conservatives have never truly recovered. 

I wrote about it extensively at the time; it wasn't just Owen Paterson but the whole 'Crikey' saga surrounding MPs with second jobs - many of whom were Conservatives - that this page covered across five separate articles and beyond.

I think at the time I knew that it would be seismic, but even though it would serve as the beginning of the end of Boris Johnson's premiership, very few MPs actually suffered any direct consequences as a result besides some minor reputational damage.
