Aside from the far right terrorism and riots over the last fortnight, something that is remarkable - and in stark contrast to how the previous Conservative government operated - is the perception of how little coverage there has been of current political events in the UK. 

Recess is partially to blame, and for the few stories that have slipped through the net the media can be accused of boredom, but nearly two months on following Labour's victory in the general election there has been a notable sense of calm about proceedings - even if, upon closer inspection, quite a lot seems to have happened.

Under the Conservatives, by contrast, we’d have had at least several major crises of government right now.
