The quote of the day on Monday came from James Cleverly - you’ll notice the irony in the name - when he said:

“my father was a former chartered surveyor but what your father did for work I'm not sure is totally relevant.”

This was in reference to the fact that the father of Evgeny Lebedev (Alexander) was a KGB operative working in London prior to the collapse of the Soviet Union, and Cleverly was asked to justify whether he thought it was “OK” to have the son of a former KGB operative in the Lords.

Note: It isn’t.

What you have to understand about Alexander Lebedev though, is that both he and son Evgeny are close to Boris Johnson.
