Hog Roasts and just counting down the days: It’s one last slog to recess and we’ve reached the 'Lord of the Flies' stage of the Conservative Party

Sunak held a hog roast on Wednesday for despondent Conservative MPs, many of whom were already plotting life after the next general election. 

The mood among Conservative MPs right now is decidedly mournful and sombre; “gloomy” as some put it - the purpose of the hog roast was apparently to ‘lift spirits’. 

There seems little chance of that happening.
