She’s Back!
You can tell how bad it is when the Conservatives are counting on Liz Truss to provide solutions
Sometimes this page has a habit of discussing - or at the very least, alluding to - issues that end up happening at some point in the future.
That is not to say that I possess any degree of higher perception or clairvoyance - I can also be wrong, too.
It's just that when you immerse yourself in 'the news' for as long as I do on a daily basis [around 150 to 200 hours a month, at considerable cost and sacrifice, to childcare, personal health among other things - and is unexceptional as with any job; hence ‘Paywall’] - for better or worse - you tend to find yourself noticing patterns, and those patterns can often form as the basis for some educated guesswork on what’s going to happen next.
In any case, the page is there to speak about it for those interested and when I speak, certain things I write about act as signposts for people to tell them what’s going to happen in the future. I gather this is called ‘forecasting’.
The broader point beyond personal insight, however, is that taking this ‘time’ is also how I come to certain conclusions and make certain forecasts. It’s important for me, as a writer, to show how I’ve drawn certain conclusions. It is the all-important ‘working out bit’ which often goes amiss with social media and was, fundamentally, the purpose behind creating my Facebook page in the first place.
Veering back to the point of this article, however, one such pattern that I began to see forming and had the opportunity to allude to in an article a couple of weeks back, is the Return of Liz Truss.
As it turns out, discussing it wasn’t as off-piste as I initially thought, and naturally, there is context.
Back in the Summer, some will remember the Conservative Party leadership contest. It was, to say the least, fractious.
