Reading some of the commentary from portions of the media - many times reflecting the words of Conservatives themselves - anybody would think that we were perhaps 3 or 4 years into the tenure of a Prime Minister that as a consequence of some horrendous or scandalous event that they presided over, was dancing on the precipice of their own, self-excavated political abyss. 

But there's an immediate problem: Liz Truss has only been the Prime Minister for around a month, and probably explains why the implosion has been so remarkable.
