‘Well we didn’t want to raise your hopes and expectations too much’ - Rishi Sunak & The Five Committments
Last week, Rishi Sunak gave perhaps one of the worst political speeches in recent memory.
In his awful speech, he made 5 key promises:
Inflation will be halved this year.
The government will grow the economy.
National debt will fall.
NHS waiting lists will also fall.
The government will introduce new laws to stop small boat crossings.
Sunak added that there would be, "No ambiguity. We're either delivering for you - or we're not".
In other words, if we don’t deliver, sack us.
The idea of the speech was that Rishi Sunak was supposed to use it to outline his vision for taking the country forward in 2023 and beyond. There’s a problem, however - as usual. In fact there are quite a few problems with his speech.
