The 'Right' way to proceed is the wrong way - but Sunak isn't listening and is rather quickly running out of time

What’s clear from the Conservative Party response to last week’s by-election catastrophe [for them] is that there is a lot of noise, the knives are clearly out [for Sunak], but ultimately there is no clear consensus on the ‘right way’ to proceed.

So - as a country, the UK will likely be subject to more of the same legislative paralysis and noise for a bit longer yet. Sadly.

Inevitably, the longer the government curtails the inevitable, the worse it will likely get for them.
