Covid makes a comeback, Sunak's Cost-of-living crisis, The Home Office's Refugee Hypocrisy, Lavrov's Stepdaughter in Kensington - and the Worst Possible Government at the Worst Possible Time
I gather one of the reasons why so many are angry at Russia for what they’re doing is because at this particular moment in time, there is no appetite for war following a global pandemic that has seen the [known] deaths of over 6 million people.
And we’re still not out of the woods with that yet, however much the government wishes to ignore it - at least where the UK is concerned. [Actually, recent - though somewhat contentious - data suggests the global number of deaths is around three times higher]
In fairness to the government however, they have recently announced the terms of reference for the future Covid inquiry.
There’s a problem, though.
It will not start public hearings until 2023, making it unlikely the final report will be published before the next general election.
As much as a kick in the teeth as any - for all of those families affected, and also for the many thousands of people ‘living with’ [or rather, suffering from Long Covid desiring some answers as to why the Government felt it necessary to thrust this upon us - I write a very small and personal follow-up on this at the end of the article]
It goes on, though.
